World Wide Wednesday – June 5, 2013

It’s World Wide Wednesday! Here’s what’s happening the world of foster care and adoption around the web:

  • Dr. John DeGarmo has recently updated this page on his website. It includes a plethora of resources, information, links, and videos about adoption, foster care, helping kids in need, and much more. A good page to keep bookmarked!
  • Hopefully you’ve had a chance to see the new “Iron Man 3” film and Addison Cooper’s post about the movie on his Adoption at the Movies blog won’t spoil anything for you.
  • EMK Press has a great resource in the form a downloadable 50-page booklet, Realistic Expectations: The First Year Home. The booklet is designed “for adoptive families as they put away their travel suitcases, preconceived notions, and get down to the job of parenting.”
  • Adoptive Families magazine shares an article titled 7 Ways to Give Your Child a History. “When a child is adopted from foster care at an older age, he needs to understand his story up to placement and the significance of his joining a new family forever. Here are hands-on activities you can use to start this conversation.”
